The truth is that I would love to tell you that age does not matter, but it does depend on your goals.

As you can imagine, most professional and virtuoso guitarists started playing at a very young.

There are exceptions, of course. But the normal thing is that if you wanted to reach a professional level, you should have started very young.

However, this is probably not your goal. You just feel passion for the guitar and that your goal is to learn to play and enjoy every moment with it.

In that case, age does not matter.

I have always believed that we are too young not to dedicate real time to what matters to us.

And if you are here, it means that the guitar does matter to you and that it is probably an important part of your musical life and good quality spare time.

Therefore I want to encourage you to try it, to give yourself the pleasure of improving, to connect with the guitar in a new and pleasant way… and enjoy the process.

My experience tells me that you can do it. I have had students in a very similar situation like yours.

Flamenco is music and music is the universal language on this planet.

I have always thought that music is the only thing that unites all human beings on this planet.

Individually we might like different music styles, but we all move to the rhythm of a melody that we like or that reminds us of special moments.

But if you want to play flamenco you can start on a simple nylon string guitar. Make sure you feel comfortable on it. String action shouldn’t be very high.  Learn the basics first and then go for the excellency!!
